    Can comedians like Aristophanes really tell us anything about society? Or must their work be taken with a pinch of salt?


    Definitely! I think they can tell us more of the truth using Satire and comedy as protection from those in power..

    I always think of those Russian peasants who were mad – they were the only ones that could speak the truth to the old tsars… and they would keep them around so they would know the truth.

    I suppose though sometimes they just try to be silly… but look how much say, South Park or the Simpsons, shows a light on modern day society?
